Congregation Beth El – Ner Tamid and Congregation Or Shalom to Blend Sunday Religious School Programs

Berwyn’s Congregation Or Shalom And Broomall’s Congregation Beth El- Ner Tamid Blend Sunday Religious School Programs Followed By Back-To-School Picnic

Berwyn, PA (August 29, 2016) – Jewish students from the western mainline attending Sunday morning classes on September 11 will have something new to explore – a new location, expanded class sizes and new friendships. After months of collaboration, Congregation Or Shalom in Berwyn and Congregation Beth El – Ner Tamid in Broomall are pleased to announce they have created a partnership on Sunday mornings, enabling their religious school students to learn together.

This exciting new collaboration between the William Sampson Religious School at Congregation Beth El – Ner Tamid and the Or Shalom Religious School will be called, “Or Tamid” – The Eternal Light.

“The two synagogues believe this is a wonderful opportunity to create a more enriched learning environment for the students,” explained Na’ama Yarden, Or Shalom’s Religious School Director. “The distance between the two synagogues is a mere 6.5 miles. The rewards from this blending will be limitless.”

“The blending of the Sunday programs will result in larger class sizes and additional social opportunities for the
students,” echoed Ellen Glassman, Beth El-Ner Tamid Religious School Director. “Midweek programs will remain at the respective synagogues, operating under their existing names, in order to keep students connected to their home communities,” she added.

The community is invited to the opening day of religious school on Sunday, September 11 from 9 am to 12 noon at Congregation Beth El-Ner Tamid, 715 Paxon Hollow Road, Broomall, immediately followed by a barbecue for the whole family, complete with a moon bounce!

Both communities are looking forward to strengthening their educational programs together and invite you to join them. As it is written, “two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil” — Kohelet – Ecclesiates 4:9-12
